CrossRoad June 2011
The Office of Vocation & Ministry welcomed high school juniors and seniors to its CrossRoad summer institute, now in its eighth year. CrossRoad greeted 60 high school juniors and seniors from 29 states as well as Canada and the Bahamas. Due to overwhelming interest from Orthodox youth and the generosity of several benefactors, this summer the program continued to offer two sessions. Since 2004, CrossRoad has inspired hundreds of Orthodox youth to grow in their faith, explore their strengths, engage in serving others, and discover how their gifts and talents can serve the needs of Church and society.
CrossRoad is funded by grants from the Lilly Endowment Inc., the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Endowment Fund, the Virginia H. Farah Foundation and through the generosity of the greater Orthodox community.
This CrossRoad podcast series, hosted by familiar voices from CR and the OVM, features vocational topics of interest to CrossRoad alumni and friends and seeks to carry on the mission of CrossRoad, inspiring young adults to travel the road of Christ, for it is in Him we find direction, meaning, hope, love, and answers.
Listen to Fr. Thomas Hopko's two CrossRoad interviews. The first interview is with OVM Director Ann Bezzerides, CrossRoad Director Mary Long and CrossRoad Assistant Director Daniel Belonick, and the second interview is with 2009 CrossRoaders and alumni staff. Click here!

Attention high school juniors and seniors, before you decide what to do with the rest of your life, decide what to do with your summer! CrossRoad is an engaging 10-day summer institute for Orthodox Christian high school juniors and seniors of all jurisdictions that takes place every summer on the campus of Hellenic College/Holy Cross in Brookline, Massachusetts. This year, thanks to overwhelming interest from qualified candidates, CrossRoad will again offer two sessions! Students from the United States and Canada are invited to take part in an exciting summer vocations exploration program designed to help them discern their life callings and match their God-given gifts with the needs of the world.
Now in its ninth year, CrossRoad combines the greatest gifts of Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology through faculty instruction and participation, an enthusiastic staff of graduate students, the beautiful campus overlooking Boston and of course the exciting city of Boston itself. Students will participate in daily classes with Orthodox faculty and attend Vespers each evening at parishes in the Boston area.
CrossRoad, one of the many unique programs sponsored by the OVM, is funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. and through the philanthropy of several donors. Applications may be downloaded from the CrossRoad website at crossroad.hchc.edu, or received by mail by calling the office at 617-850-1309. Furthermore, the OVM has produced a DVD featuring the CrossRoad experience which has been sent to each parish and is available on the CrossRoad website. Applicants must currently be in their junior or senior year of high school. Currently, scholarships are available for participants.
